Space Chase Library Reading Challenge

Events > 1970 > September > Space Chase Library Reading Challenge

About this event:

Created by Dean Mortlock

Travel across the galaxy on a very special reading mission. The theme this year is Space Chase – inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. Help the super space family, The Rockets, as they track down books nabbed by mischievous aliens, and collect special stickers for a colourful collector’s folder.

Taking part is simple – from Saturday, July 13 to September 7 you can sign up for free at your local library. Read six books (or more!) over the summer holidays to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, as well as a host of fun free activities and events.

Anyone aged 4-11 can take part – if you’re not already a library member, joining is easy and free.

In addition, a lot of libraries across Somerset are running craft events and activities on throughout the summer holidays to help children complete the Challenge. We’ve covered a few of them on the site, but contact your local library to see what specific events they’re hosting.
