About this event:
Roots Sessions hosts a weekly performance, every Wednesday at The Grain Bar Cafe in Frome, showcasing the best in folk, roots, R&B and more, with the aim of bringing the best of local and national acts to the venue.
Sunny and Ed Davidson are songwriting brothers who share a passion for creating original music with a style which is strongly influenced by Roots Reggae. Their music is both spiritual and political, and they are supported to deliver their message in glorious three-part harmony by female vocalists Maya Love of Dragonsfly and Jutta Bannerman, daughter of Kari Bannerman, founder Member of Ghanaian Afro beat band Osibisa.
Sunny and Ed have collaborated in various projects over the years, including Dragonsfly and Celtech, and have both played with Avalon Roots at different times. Between them they have gigged in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Israel, Luxembourg, Belgium and Holland and Sunny has toured Europe with world famous singer/rapper/musician/activist Michael Franti. They are now putting their work as a song writing duo front and centre. If you’re a fan of Xavier Rudd, Mike Love, Nahko Bear and others like them then these guys could be right up your street.
