About this event:
Exceptional young musicians have always benefitted from the mentorship of their senior professional colleagues. Philip Dukes, one of the world’s most eminent viola players, studied at Wells Cathedral School in the 1980s, and revisits old haunts to direct its premier string ensemble. Their programme includes Bartók’s Romanian Dances, Serenade for Strings by Dvorák and Samuel Barber’s Adagio, which was made famous by its use in the multi-Oscar-winning war film Platoon.
