About this event:
STRODE LIVE in partnership with WINDROSE RURAL MEDIA TRUST present Somerset Archive Film with Live Performance.
Strode College music students are involved in a unique project using archive films of Somerset to inspire new creative work. They have been given unique access to films from Windrose Rural Media Trust’s extensive archive, writing songs and arranging music for some specifically chosen silent footage.
Windrose is working in partnership with the college as part of its Heritage Lottery funded project called, ‘A Century of Sights and Sounds.’ The students will perform their new works during the show, alongside the silent films. Somerset folk singer and project coordinator Amanda Boyd with musician Daniel Shaw will also perform songs from Cecil Sharp’s folk song collection with silent footage.
“This is the first Time students have worked with archive film and it gives them the opportunity to compose new material, whilst instantly connecting them with Somerset heritage.” Daniel Shaw
