About this event:

Created by Dean Mortlock

The Bishops Palace, Wells

Join The Bishop’s Palace for this workshop making a wearable snood using Lopi yarn in various hand-dyed colours.

Lopi yarn is traditionally made from Icelandic wool, and designed for protecting against harsh weather. In its traditional form, it can be rough against the skin. However, the soft yarn used in this workshop is from the flock at Fernhill Farm. You’ll create a flexible, versatile accessory that traps in warmth without weighing down.

During the workshop, you will choose your colour combination, wind up a ball of yarn, and then learn how to begin knitting using the oversized French knitting loom provided. You’ll work your snood to the desired length, and finish the workshop with a completed item.

This workshop is perfect for those who want to spend time relaxing and creating something with their hands. It is also particularly suitable for those with hand or wrist pain who cannot spend hours on small-scale traditional knitting.

Suitable for beginners.
